So much can be learnt from older people and parents. King Solomon in the Old Testament advised, ‘Listen, my son, to your father’s instruction, and do not forsake your mother’s teaching’ (Proverbs 1:8). If we are going to benefit from the words in apostle Paul’s last three letters then we do need to listen carefully and respond appropriately. The three letters surveyed in this study are the words of Paul to his spiritual sons, Timothy and Titus. Since the 18th Century these three letters have collectively been called the ‘Pastoral Letters’. Not because they are exclusively for pastors but they have a pastoral message for the believers who form local churches.
